Earlier yesterday, 17 November, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence reported that at least 2 people had died in Jeddah after they were electrocuted by power cables falling into flood water.

Since then 3 other flood-related deaths have been reported, all of them children. One of the fatalities occurred in Jeddah, another in the province of Hail, and the third in the western province of Yanbu.

“We are all pained today by the loss of our children’s lives in accidents and various areas after being swept away by the floodwaters,” the Civil Defense authority said.

One person, thought to be another child, is reported as missing in flood waters in Hail province.

One of the worst hit areas was Jeddah, where flood water up to 1 metre deep could be seen in some areas. Today’s flooding is bringing back painful memories for many who experienced the terrible floods of 2009 where 120 people lost their lives.

Flooding was also reported in the city of Makkah, where a team from Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence had to rescue at least 16 people who were trapped in the floods. Medina, Hail and Arar have also been affected by the heavy rain.

So far records show that Jeddah saw 22 mm of rain today. Local witnesses say the rain fell in a very short space time – just 15 minutes – from around 10 am this morning.

WMO reports that 59 mm of rain fell in Tabuk during a 24 hour period to 17 November. Later Al Wajh saw 36 mm of rain. More rain is forecast for tomorrow.
As Muslims, some of us have a tendency to bring each other down? Would you agree? Nowadays Muslims are bringing other Muslims down? Hating them, trolling them, spying on them, spreading rumours about them, slandering them, humiliating them, embarrassing them.
So don't feel proud at the mistakes of others. Stay humble and thank Allah for protecting you and always remember whoever follows the mistakes of others (seeking to shame or discredit them), will have his mistakes exposed in the Hereafter.

On the second day of the Hajj, Muslims gather at Mount Arafat to mark the most important ritual of the pilgrimage.Nearly two million Muslims have gathered in the vast Saudi plain of Mount Arafat for the most important ritual of the Hajj, an annual pilgrimage that re-enacts the actions of the Prophet Muhammad from more than 1,400 years ago.

Worshippers from more than 150 countries converged at the 70-metre hill at sunrise on Sunday, some 15km from Mecca, for "wukuf", a high point of the Hajj which all pilgrims must attend in the mid-afternoon.

Wearing two white, unstitched pieces of cloth for men known as the "ihram", and any loose-fitting clothing for women, the pilgrims climbed steps built into the hill where the Prophet Muhammad gave his final sermon.

In what looked like an unbroken sea of white, the pilgrims marched to the top, reciting prayers and supplications.

And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. (Surah Al-A'raf, 7:10) Are we grateful to Allah? Say Alhamdulillah..

Two days of heavy rain brought flash flooding to parts of Hail (Ha’yel) Province in north west Saudi Arabia.
Three children are reported to have died after drowning in flood water in the small village of Baida Natheel, Hail Province.
The rain and flooding has been so severe, the Civil Defense and emergency services received nearly 1000 calls. Schools have been closed in the area as a result of flooding.
Riyadh also saw some moderate to heavy rainfall over the last two days, with some flood incidents on several roads reported, causing problems for the city’s drivers.

Riyadh suffered from severe flooding in November last year. On Sunday, 5 January 2014, 12 motorists were caught in flood waters in a valley south of Makkah, Saudi Arabia at a time when wide areas of the Gulf region saw heavy rainfall.
